A tragic example is the Eastern Airlines jumbo jet that crashed in the Everglades of Florida. The plane was the now infamous Flight 401, bound from New York to Miami with a full flight of people seeking to escape the frigid temperatures of New York, in pursuit of the calamity of the waters of South Beach. As the plane began to descend at the Miami airport, the light that indicates proper deployment of the landing gear failed to come on.
